The Cuban foreign minister points out that if the US cared about Cubans it would end the economic blockade

MADRID, 10 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said this Friday that if the United States government were concerned about the well-being of Cubans, it would end the economic blockade and break with the "maximum pressure" policy of former President Donald Trump.

"If the US government were concerned about the well-being of Cubans, it would put an end to the economic blockade and the faithful compliance with the policy of maximum pressure of its predecessor, which does so much damage to the population, a flagrant, massive and systematic violation of the Human Rights," he wrote on Twitter.

This response comes after US President Joe Biden called this Friday for the release of the political prisoners who have been held since the protests against the government in July 2021.

Biden has launched this petition on the occasion of Human Rights Day that is celebrated this Saturday, December 10, before which he has guaranteed that from Washington they will continue to fight "for the release of all those who were imprisoned" during the "brutal repression", as well as holding "Cuban officials responsible for the violence against peaceful protests."
