Several climate activists stick to the asphalt to stop traffic in Berlin and Munich

BERLIN/MUNICH, Dec. 5 (DPA/EP) -

Ecological activists from the 'Last Generation' group have stuck to the asphalt on Monday in two important transport nodes in the German capital, Berlin, and the city of Munich to paralyze traffic, as part of a series of activities to protest against the lack of measures to deal with climate change.

The Berlin Police have indicated that five people have stuck to the pavement in front of the central train station in the German capital, while two other similar protests took place in the center of the city, according to the German news agency DPA. .

For his part, a spokesman for the Munich Police has detailed that the protest has taken place in Karlplatz square, causing a diversion of traffic, and has added that nine people have participated in it. Thus, he has said that the activists wore fluorescent vests and protest banners.

'Last Generation' had announced for this week new and intense disruptive actions that would target urban transport centers. Recently, activists blocked roads and streets, damaged works of art and even grounded air traffic at the Berlin airport.

Herbert Reul, Minister of the Interior of the most populous state in Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia, stressed during the day that the activists had "crossed a line", before stating in statements to the Deutschlandfunk radio station that "the State cannot limit itself to watch and let it happen." Among other things, the group demands a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour on motorways and a nine-euro-a-month train ticket that can be used throughout Germany.
