Russia claims to have shot down several drones launched by Ukraine against Sevastopol, in Crimea

MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Russian authorities have assured this Thursday that they have shot down several drones launched by Ukraine against the city of Sevastopol, located on the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Moscow in 2014.

The governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, stressed in a message on his Telegram account that "the attack against the peninsula began at night" on Wednesday and stressed that "in the Sevastopol area, the air defense system and the Black Sea Fleet shot down two drones."

"Many more drones were shot down in the maritime zone of the Republic of Crimea," he said, without giving an exact figure, before stressing that "everything is calm in the city." "Trust only the official information," she has settled.

Sevastopol, due to its strategic location and because it is home to the main base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, has been the target of several attempted Ukrainian drone strikes. There has been a "yellow" alert level in Crimea since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February last year.
