Russia claims its troops have managed to "break through" in a "wooded area" in Lugansk

MADRID, 15 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Russian Government has assured this Wednesday that its forces have managed to "make their way" through the defenses of the Ukrainian Army in a "wooded area" in the Lugansk region (east), in the framework of a reinforced offensive during the weeks by Russian troops in this part of the country.

The Russian Defense Ministry has indicated that its troops "have forced their way through the enemy's staggered defense in a wooded area in the Luhansk People's Republic", before adding that Ukrainian troops "have randomly withdrawn to a distance of three kilometers from the previously occupied lines".

"Not even the enemy's second line of defense, more fortified, could resist the offensive of Russian military personnel," he said, while stressing that the Ukrainian forces "hastily abandoned their positions, without time to take the military equipment ", as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.

He also said that "while covering their withdrawal, the Ukrainian Armed Forces remotely mined the area with antipersonnel mines of a type used by NATO." "Despite this, the forces successfully entrenched themselves on the occupied lines and have continued offensive operations," he noted.
