Russia and Belarus extend their joint military exercises until this Sunday

MADRID, 2 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Belarusian authorities have confirmed this Monday that the military exercises carried out jointly with the Russian Army will last at least until this Sunday.

The group that oversees these activities, known as Gayun, has indicated in its Telegram account that the maneuvers will continue to be carried out on Belarusian territory.

Thus, between January 2 and 6, exercises will be held in Gozki and Niman, while on January 7 they will be held in Borisivski and on January 8 in Osipovichi, Domanov and Lepelski.

These types of maneuvers date back to April 29 and seek to increase the reaction capacity of the joint forces in the face of a possible attack during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The group has indicated that "the Belarusian forces are now more prepared to carry out defense operations."

The Belarusian Armed Forces estimate that some 11,000 members of the Russian Army and 400 units are participating in these activities in Belarusian training camps.
