Russia accuses Ukraine of executing ten prisoners of war

Moscow demands an "exhaustive" investigation by international organizations so that "atrocities" do not go unpunished

The Russian Ministry of Defense has accused the Ukrainian military this Friday of the execution of at least a dozen prisoners of war captured in images that it has denounced as a "methodical and intentional murder".

Although the Ministry's statement does not provide details for the moment about the executions, its publication coincides with a complaint also made this Friday by the pro-Russian authorities of the Donetsk region about a possible massacre of Russian soldiers in the town of Makivka, right next to east of the capital.

The Ministry of Defense limits itself to reporting the number of those executed and confirming "new video evidence of mass executions inflicted by the Ukrainian military on unarmed Russian prisoners of war confirms the atrocious nature of the kyiv regime."

"No one will be able to say anymore that this methodical and intentional murder committed by the degenerates of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who have killed ten immobilized Russian soldiers with ten direct shots to the head, is a 'tragic exception'", adds the Ministry in the note, published on its Telegram channel.

For their part, the pro-Russian authorities in Donetsk have announced their intention to hand over the images captured on these possible executions to the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Amnesty International for verification.

"It is difficult to comment on the video of the execution of the surrendered soldiers in the Makivka settlement without going beyond the normative vocabulary," denounced the Russian administration's ombudsman in Donetsk, Daria Morozova, in comments collected by the Russian agency TASS.

"I look forward to an objective investigation and, if the authenticity of the images is confirmed, we demand an adequate response from the international human rights community to the heinous war crime committed by representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he added.

In this context, the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that "on several occasions" it had called the attention of the international community to focus on the alleged mistreatment of Russian prisoners by Ukrainian troops. Harassment reflected in videos distributed, she says, by the Ukrainian soldiers themselves.

"The murders, torture, abuse and beatings committed by them are shown. Without hiding, the Ukrainian neo-Nazis publish it so that everyone can see reports of their 'exploits', with which the blood runs cold", added Russia, which denounces that They have come to record episodes of Ukrainian tanks passing over people still alive.

"All these numerous evidences of crimes were ignored by the 'collective West', which actively supports kyiv in everything. Such approval of the Americans and Europeans makes them complicit in what the Ukrainian neo-Nazis they hold dear are doing," he remarked. the Russian Foreign Ministry.

It is in this context that the Russian authorities have called on international organizations to "condemn this heinous crime" and launch an "exhaustive" investigation so that these "atrocities" do not go unpunished.

"All those guilty and involved in the crimes will be identified and will suffer a well-deserved punishment. No one will escape convictions," the Russian diplomatic portfolio has concluded.
