MADRID, 4 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -
The Government of Qatar took charge of the stay of the main minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford, and other senior administration officials who came to the Gulf country to witness in person the recent World Cup, which has generated criticism since the opposition.
The Welsh Executive has confirmed to questions from the BBC that the Qatari authorities were in charge of "accommodation, food and transport", as a gesture that would also have been offered to other foreign delegations. Drakeford stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, a five-star hotel.
The Liberal Democrat Party, the first to request official information about this trip at the end of last year, has warned that accepting Qatar's help puts into question Wales' commitment to defending Human Rights, a recurring debate during the last sporting event
However, from the Government they maintain that the official visit allowed senior officials to expose their values and also gave rise to talks on trade and investment.
