Pro-Russian formations march in the capital of Moldova to protest against the Government

MADRID, 19 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Moldovan political formations related to Russia have marched this Sunday in the streets of the country's capital, Chisinau, to protest against the Moldovan government in what the authorities have denounced as a destabilization attempt paid for by the Kremlin.

These groups are led by oligarchs Ilan Shor and Vlad Plahotniuc, both on the run after being convicted of fraud, and according to the government, they are part of a "hybrid war" launched by Russia against Moldova.

In the march this Sunday, which for the moment is taking place without incident, the pro-Russian parties and their supporters demand that the Government improve living conditions and refrain from resorting to maneuvers to try to "usurp power", as denounced last Monday the deputy and spokesperson for the formation of Ilan Shor, Marina Tauber.

Tauber refers to an initiative by the country's president, Maia Sandu, for the country's Parliament to approve new security and surveillance laws outside the jurisdiction of the courts. "These laws," denounced the deputy, "open the door to new abuses of power and violations of human rights," reports the Balkan Insight news portal.

Sandu, on the other hand, justified this decision on the threat that Russia represents to the country. It must be remembered that the Moldovan region of Transnistria - whose population is mainly Russian and Ukrainian - has gained prominence in recent months due to its link with the Russian government and its important geostrategic position. The Ukrainian authorities have come to denounce possible Russian incursions into western Ukraine from there.

Sandu herself accused Russia on Monday of planning a plot to bring down the government through opposition protests and infiltrations by the Belarusian, Serbian and Montenegrin military, among others.

"The plan included sabotage and infiltration to carry out violent actions, attacks on government buildings and taking hostages," Sandu explained at the time, stating that it is not the first time that Russia intends to undertake this type of action in Moldova.

Shor, who is in Israel right now, has asked his followers to unite in a force "that acts as a whole" so that "the bastards of the Government pay the bills of the people for three months and show that they are mentally ill from Maia Sandu has invented a myth about an alleged coup to laugh at people."

For the rest, and according to the Moldovan news portal Jurnal, the Chisinau demonstration is taking place peacefully in the midst of a significant police deployment, as has happened on other occasions.

"In order to strengthen dialogue with citizens and increase the degree of security, the Police urge all protest participants to exercise their right to free expression peacefully, and to comply with the instructions of law enforcement officers. ", the security forces have requested in a statement.
