Poland withdraws its veto on the 15% rate for multinationals and unlocks aid of 18,000 million to Ukraine

BRUSELAS, 15 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The countries of the European Union (EU) have agreed this Thursday to introduce a minimum rate of 15 percent of corporate tax for large multinationals, the so-called 'Second Pillar' that is part of the OECD reform for a global minimum rate , after Poland has lifted its reservations at the leaders' summit held in Brussels.

Several hours after the summit of heads of state began in Brussels, Poland has withdrawn the reservations it had up to now, according to diplomatic sources reported to Europa Press, which has allowed the decision that was pending the response of this country to be unblocked. .

It is about ensuring that the benefits of large multinational and national groups or companies with a joint annual turnover of at least 750 million euros are taxed at a minimum rate of 15 percent.

The Twenty-seven announced on Monday an agreement on a package that included both this measure and the macro-financial aid of 18,000 million for Ukraine in 2023, as well as the freezing of 6,300 million euros in regional funds for Hungary and the approval of the recovery plan for this country.

The agreement was pending formal approval through a written procedure, which concluded on Wednesday and which Poland stopped to try to leave out the minimum rate of 15% for multinationals.
