Peruvian congressmen present a motion of no confidence against the prime minister after three days in office

MADRID, 14 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The progressive formation Juntos por el Perú (JPP) announced on Tuesday in Congress a motion of no confidence against the Peruvian Prime Minister, Pedro Angulo, due to clashes between the Police and demonstrators in the protests that are taking place in the south of the country and that have left at least six dead.

Specifically, congresswomen Sigrid Bazán and Ruth Luque have begun to gather the necessary signatures to present a motion of no confidence against the president of the country's Council of Ministers, who was sworn in on Saturday, for "the deficient management of the political crisis that the country faces", as detailed by the radio station RPP.

"The actions carried out by the Government, whose head is Prime Minister Pedro Angulo, have contributed nothing to the resolution of the conflict and, on the contrary, his statements and the measures that his cabinet has been adopting are dangerous for the restoration of calm and social peace", wields the document presented by the JPP congresswomen.

According to Bazán and Luque, Angulo has not carried out any measure that solves the problem of "disproportionate police repression", alleging that the deaths registered so far, as well as the "puffing material that circulates in various media", show.

"The facts described should alert us to take this measure to reject and remove from political office whoever has allowed the life and health of the Peruvian population to be put at risk," the congresswomen stress.

The Prime Minister of Peru, who has been in office since Saturday, called for dialogue on Monday after announcing that the Government of Dina Boluarte will form a crisis cabinet to deal with the protests of the demonstrators that have broken out in different points from the country.

"We call on those people who are causing violence to depose it. We want dialogue: we open our arms to solve the problems that, we know, have not been solved before by the governments on duty," he said, according to the Andina news agency.

To date, protests originating in the south of the country after the removal of former President Pedro Castillo to pressure the new government to dissolve Congress and call presidential elections have claimed the lives of at least six people.
