Pedro Castillo warns that those responsible for the deaths in the protests in Peru "soon" will be prosecuted

MADRID, 27 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former president of Peru Pedro Castillo has warned that those responsible for the deaths during the protests "will soon show their faces", specifying that "the day of justice" for the Peruvian people is approaching.

"The day of justice for our people is drawing near. Those responsible for this massacre will soon show up," the former president said in a message on the social network Twitter.

According to Castillo, they will have to face charges for crimes against humanity and "their mafia press will not be able to save them." "Peru, taking firm steps, is forging its liberation and is one step away from the Constituent (Assembly)," he added.

The former Peruvian president wrote this message from the Barbadillo penitentiary, where he is preventively imprisoned for his attempt to dissolve Parliament and declare an emergency government at the beginning of December, in a maneuver labeled a "coup d'état" by the Peruvian authorities.

From that moment on, thousands of supporters of the ex-president took to the streets of Peru to demand the calling of new elections and the resignation of Boluarte, Castillo's 'number two' until then and who rose to the Presidency after his arrest.
