Otárola rules out Boluarte's resignation because "it would open the doors to anarchy" in Peru

The Prime Minister of Peru, Alberto Otárola, has defended the need for the president, Dina Boluarte, to remain in office since not doing so would "open the doors to anarchy" at a time of deep political and social crisis.

Otárola has stressed that Boluarte "is not going to resign" due to his "sense of high responsibility" and has emphasized "democratic dialogue" as the only way out of the difficult situation the country is going through, with nearly forty deaths since the protests began. for the arrest of former President Pedro Castillo.

"The way out is for Peruvians to understand each other, sit down to talk and have a democratic dialogue based on various platforms," ​​the Peruvian prime minister told Latina Televisión.

"History will judge us, later it will see if we have done it right or wrong. In the meantime, we have an absolutely clear conscience," said Otárola, for whom Boluarte's resignation would be giving in to the aspirations of the "small organized group of violent activists" who It has taken over the protests.

In this sense, Otárola has recounted having received threats from "a small group financed by drug trafficking and illegal mining", but despite this, he has stressed that these "enemies of the State" will not be able to question their support for President Boluarte.
