Nigerian police rescue 27 people kidnapped in Zamfara state

MADRID, 23 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Police in the Nigerian state of Zamfara have announced the release of 37 people kidnapped a week ago in various cities in the region by a group of "bandits", the name given by the authorities to the gangs of kidnappers and looters who have been raging since the area years ago.

The kidnappings, according to a statement collected by the 'Premium Times', occurred in the towns of Kawa, Gwashi, Tungar Rogo and Anka, in the municipalities of Anka and Bukkuyum.

Zamfara, in the north of the country, is one of the favorite states of the "bandits", designated by the Nigerian government as terrorist organizations.

These groups also often perpetrate massacres during their looting, which has caused an exodus of displaced people, especially within the municipality of Anka.

Most of those released are fine but at least ten of them have had to receive medical attention for psychological trauma.
