Neighbors of the town where the son of 'Chapo' Guzmán was arrested celebrate the withdrawal of the military

MADRID, 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Neighbors of the town of Jesús María, in the Mexican state of Culiacán, have applauded and cheered the withdrawal of the military troops who arrested the drug lord Ovidio Guzmán López, 'El Ratón', son of the historic drug trafficker in that place last Thursday 'El Chapo' Guzman.

The soldiers in charge of the arrest maintained their positions for more than 35 hours and then left the upper part of the syndicate on foot, under the gaze of the residents of the area's ranches, who had been confined to the region and without electricity or communications, reports the Mexican newspaper 'El Universal'.

The military have also removed the blockade erected on federal highway number 15 after the transfer of Ovidio Guzmán by air to Mexico City.

The neighbors had denounced the passivity of the president of the State Human Rights Commission, José Carlos Álvarez Ortega, due to the lack of electricity supply and the confinement of the inhabitants.

The operation in which the son of 'Chapo' was arrested ended in the early hours of Thursday with almost 30 deaths. Already on Friday, Judge Gregorio Salazar Hernández ordered provisional detention of the drug trafficker with a view to his possible extradition to the United States, where he is accused of trafficking drugs such as fentanyl, marijuana and cocaine, among others.

During the operation, the security forces seized an arsenal with four Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifles and six machine guns, 26 weapons and 13 vehicles, chargers, cartridges and tactical equipment.
