Metsola travels by surprise to kyiv, the Ukrainian capital

The President of the European Parliament (EP), Roberta Metsola, made a surprise visit this Friday to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, to which she already traveled last March to express the European Union's support for Ukraine within the framework of war.

"It's good to be back. With those brave people who inspired the world. With those heroes who refuse to give in. With those who sacrificed everything for our values. With Europeans whose home is in our European Union," he said in his profile. Twitter on Friday night.

Due to security reasons, no previous information about the trip has been given, the same reason that there are no details about Metsola's schedule in Ukraine. The President of the European Parliament has also posted the same message in Ukrainian, along with the Ukrainian and EU flags.

Metsola already traveled to Ukraine in March, where he met with the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, and delivered a speech before the country's Parliament in which he expressed his support for Ukraine's entry into the EU.

At the moment, more details of who accompanies the president of the European Parliament are unknown. The visit coincides with a proposal made the day before by the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, to guarantee the supply of artillery ammunition to Ukraine, especially 155 caliber.

Specifically, the support package, valued at 1,000 million, is focused on the supply of ammunition, which could be launched as soon as the 2,000 million that the Member States agreed on last December to replenish the European Mechanism for the Peace, the instrument with which the EU has financed the shipment of arms to Ukraine during the war.
