At the beginning of the day, the president had declared that the intention of meeting with the foreign delegations that are in Brasilia for the inauguration of his post was to work "so that Brazil has the role it deserves in the world."

Early in the morning, he held a meeting with King Felipe VI, the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz; and the Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares; at the Itamaraty Palace, where they spoke about "the relations between Brazil and Spain, Europe and Latin America," according to Lula.

Later, he met with the president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, with whom he talked about how both countries "can collaborate on social policy, energy and the supply of fertilizers."
