The Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent a letter to the member countries of the European Union asking them to take measures against Serbia and to make it collaborate in the peaceful resolution of the tensions caused in the northern part of Kosovo.

The document, as collected by the Dukagjini media, asks the international community to encourage Serbia to return to dialogue and provides a chronological record of the latest incidents in the north of the region.

"In the best of cases, Serbia is deliberately trying to destabilize Kosovo to prevent the progress of the dialogue, especially in the context of the new plan proposed by the EU (backed by France and Germany) to normalize relations," according to the aforementioned outlet. , as collected by the Kosovo Online portal.

In addition, the document recognizes that the escalation of the attacks is reminiscent of the 'modus operandi' of the Serbian authorities to initiate armed conflicts in the 1990s.

The content of the letter would also include all the riots experienced since December 10, from the erection of barricades by the Serb minority in Mitrovica, a city in northern Kosovo, to the attacks on journalists from the Kosovar media.

"We strongly condemn the attacks on journalists by extremists in northern Kosovo. In the last three weeks, journalists have been repeatedly attacked by criminal groups trying to destabilize Kosovo," the Deputy Prime Minister shared in a message on Twitter on Tuesday. and head of the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz.

"The international community must urgently intervene in Belgrade and protect the free media. This must end. Now," added the minister.

For his part, the Russian ambassador in Belgrade, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, warned hours before that the situation of tension between Serbia and Kosovo is developing and advancing towards a "very dangerous" scenario.

As detailed by the Russian diplomatic representative, the situation "is heating up", especially in the north of Kosovo, and he has warned that "any provocation" can occur at any time.

"Pristina is increasing its military presence," Botsan-Jarchenko reproached in an interview for the Zvezda television channel, collected by TASS, and in which he accused the Kosovar authorities of trying to control the Serb-populated areas.
