Israel clarifies that it will not give weapons to Ukraine and will limit itself to reinforcing its alert system

MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government of Israel has settled this Wednesday the open debate in recent days clarifying that it will not give any type of weapon to Ukraine, to which it has only offered help to improve its alert system against Russian attacks.

"Our policy with Ukraine will not change," Defense Minister Benny Gantz said in a meeting with ambassadors from EU countries in which he attributed the refusal to send weapons to "limitations" and "various operational considerations", according to 'The Jerusalem Post'.

Thus, it has only offered to "help develop an early warning system to save lives", which would imply transferring Israel's experience in warnings against attacks such as those launched from the Gaza Strip to Ukraine.

Ukrainian Minister Dimitro Kuleba openly called on Israel for anti-aircraft defense systems on Tuesday with which to defend against attacks, hoping that the Israeli authorities would decide to get involved in the conflict after Russia's use of Iranian drones.

Former Russian President Dimitri Medvedev, number two on the Security Council, threatened Israel with a break in bilateral relations if it helps Ukraine militarily. It would be, as he declared on Monday, a "very reckless" step by the Executive headed by Yair Lapid.
