Israel attacks a military installation in Gaza after a Hamas attack

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched airstrikes on an underground Hamas rocket production and development complex in the Gaza Strip in the early hours of Friday in response to the launch of missiles into Israel hours earlier.

According to the Israeli Army, this counterattack "will damage the attempts of the terrorist organization Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to strengthen itself and arm itself with rockets," reported the newspaper 'The Jerusalem Post'.

"The terrorist organization Hamas is responsible for what is happening in the Gaza Strip and is the one who will pay the price for security violations against the State of Israel," they added to the IDF in a statement posted on the social network Twitter.

Hours before, the Israeli Armed Forces have warned of the launch of four rockets from the Gaza Strip.

After 9:00 p.m. (local time), the air warning sirens have begun to sound in the cities of Kissufim, Ein HaShlosha and Nirim, all of them located near the border with Gaza, according to the newspaper 'The Times of Israel'.

As the IDF has clarified, the country's air defense system, known as the Iron Dome, has managed to intercept one of the projectiles allegedly launched from Palestinian territory.

The other three rockets, launched moments later, have failed to set off anti-aircraft alarms and it is estimated that they may have fallen short and ended up falling on Palestinian territory.

The country's health authorities have reported that no injuries or deaths have been reported.

As the aforementioned media recalls, these attacks are carried out hours after Farouk Salameh, identified as a "commander" of the Palestinian Jihad group, died during an Israeli military operation in the West Bank city of Jenin.
