The Government of Honduras has once again extended the state of emergency for an additional 60 days, extending the measure until April 20, in order to stop the wave of violence.

The Honduran authorities have extended the state of emergency for the second time, which began in December 2022, alleging that homicides have been reduced during this time interval.

The National Police has indicated that in these weeks they have arrested a total of 4,233 people, of which 415 are linked to military structures, the Mara Salvatrucha and Pandilla 18, reports 'El Heraldo'.

In addition, the measure establishes expanding from 75 to 123 the municipalities that will be intervened by the National Police and other State security forces, according to 'La Tribuna'.

In this way, the entire municipality of the Central District, in the center of the country, and Valle de Sula, in the north, will remain in a state of emergency, with the aim of combating crime, homicides and extortion in the most conflictive areas of the country. country, according to the Honduran newspaper 'El Tiempo'.
