Germany postpones the decision on the shipment of tanks to Ukraine

BRUSSELS, 20 Ene. (EUROPE PRESS) -

The German government has not unblocked this Friday the supply of battle tanks in Ukraine, within the framework of the meeting of the countries of the Contact Group for Ukraine that meet at the Ramstein military base, in Germany.

During the meeting, the German Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, pointed out that there is no unanimous opinion on the deployment of the 'Leopards' that kyiv claims to fight the Russian forces in the Donbas region, although it has not closed to give the step in the future, diplomatic sources have confirmed to Europa Press.

The supply of tanks has focused international attention in recent days as Berlin has in its power to authorize the re-export of the tanks to Ukraine, as requested by Poland and the Baltics.

The sources consulted confirm the lack of agreement at the Ramstein meeting, which brings together 40 countries that support Ukraine militarily, and point out that it remains "unclear" when the decision on the tanks can be made or if it will finally be made.
