Emissions from the 'Cotopaxi' volcano already reach more than a kilometer high

The gas and ash emissions that the Cotopaxi volcano, in the north of Ecuador, has been expelling for days, have already exceeded a kilometer in height and the enormous cloud is moving in a southwesterly direction, towards the country's coast.

The Geological Institute of Ecuador has pointed out that it is mainly gas emissions, with a very low ash load, and that this Sunday has been accompanied by an internal vibration that has lasted for 20 minutes.

On October 22, the National Risk and Emergency Management Service (SNGRE) of Ecuador issued the Yellow Alert for the area of ​​influence of the volcano to reinforce the preparation of citizens and update evacuation plans.

This volcano is considered one of the most dangerous in the world due to the frequency of its eruptions, its style of eruption, relief, glacier coverage and the number of people at risk.
