Congress will study this Monday the request for federal intervention in Brasilia

MADRID, 9 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the Brazilian Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, has convened an extraordinary joint session with the Chamber of Deputies to analyze the request of the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to intervene in the Federal District of Brasilia in response to the seizure of the headquarters of the three powers of the State by supporters of Jair Bolsonaro.

Pacheco was on vacation in France and is now returning to Brazil, where he will arrive this Monday, according to the Brazilian television network O Globo.

The Brazilian Congress will thus analyze the decree issued by Lula by which the federal government assumes the powers of Brasilia in matters of security and installs an auditor, Ricardo Garcia Cappelli, executive secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

More than a hundred people have been arrested after the assault on the headquarters of the Presidency, Congress and the Federal Supreme Court by protesters close to Bolsonaro who thus intended to force a coup against Lula.
