China denies that Europe is a "systemic rival" and simply acknowledges specific "divergences"

MADRID, 4 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Chinese authorities have rejected this Saturday that Europe has become a "systemic rival" for the country and instead have called for expanding bilateral cooperation to promote global development.

The spokesman for the Chinese Parliament, Wang Chao, has assured that such a rivalry is a "fallacy" fueled by the "Cold War mentality and ideological prejudices" and, although he has admitted "divergences in certain aspects", has assured that both parties do not have any kind of "strategic disagreement".

According to data from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, bilateral trade between China and the European Union has increased by 5.6 percent in 2022, according to the Chinese state-run international newspaper 'Global Times'.

It should be remembered that the National People's Congress, the highest legislative body in China, begins an annual meeting this coming Sunday in which it will approve a series of institutional restructuring with a view to granting the Communist Party even more direct control over certain sectors such as the economy or culture.

In addition to reviewing a series of reports, including an assessment of the government's work, the deputies of the Chinese Parliament will deliberate on a draft amendment to the Legislation Law and the aforementioned initiative on the reform of the State Council institutions, has explained the spokesman.

In the purely economic sphere, according to sources close to the initiative reported to the 'Wall Street Journal', Parliament will approve a new team specifically in charge of making policies to accelerate the growth of the second largest economy in the world.
