Canada predicts Russian failure in Zaporizhia as its troops are "poorly equipped and inadequately trained"

MADRID, 20 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Canadian Armed Forces have pointed out that Russian troops are "poorly equipped and inadequately trained", reason why they consider that Moscow will fail in its efforts to gain control of the Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia.

"Russia's poorly equipped and inadequately trained troops will likely be unable to succeed in their offensive on the Zaporizhia front line in the coming months," the Canadian military said in a Twitter post.

Ottawa has echoed that "officials installed by Russia in the partially occupied Zaporizhia region say that Russian forces will probably be prepared to launch an offensive in the spring to capture the remaining part of the region."

However, according to Canadian Intelligence reports, Russia has been setting up strategic defensive posts for months, showing "some concern" about a possible Ukrainian recapture.

They have also pointed out that Moscow has invested considerable resources to gain full control of the Donetsk region, in Donbas, suffering "very high losses" and "minor territorial gains" in this operation.
