The former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson would have the necessary guarantees to present his candidacy to revalidate the presidency of the Conservative Party and, therefore, his former position as head of the Government of the country, according to sources close to the former president to Sky News.

Johnson has not ruled out running to compete with the top favorite at the moment, former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak, who would also have the support of more than a hundred deputies to succeed Liz Truss, who resigned on Thursday after a month and a half in office.

The former prime minister returned to the country this Saturday after a family vacation in the Dominican Republic and with speculation about his possible candidacy to lead the Government and the Conservative Party on the front page of the main British newspapers.

Johnson has arrived at London's Gatwick Airport on a tourist class flight that he boarded early in the Dominican Republic, according to Sky News, whose correspondent has reported "some boos" from other passengers.

The former president resigned just six weeks ago after the party scandals in full confinement, the 'partygate', and after the cascading resignations of his ministers. However, he has the explicit support of some party heavyweights: Jacob Rees-Mogg, Ben Wallace or Simon Clarke, but he must obtain the support of a hundred deputies before 2:00 p.m. on Monday to be able to compete.

It should be remembered that the Conservative Party has 357 MPs in the House of Commons, so both candidates can easily get the support they need.
