Boluarte affirms that there will be no "impunity" for the more than 20 deaths in Peru during the protests

MADRID, 29 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, has assured this Thursday that there will be no "impunity" for the more than 20 deaths that have been registered during the demonstrations that have broken out in the country following the impeachment and arrest of former president Pedro Castillo.

Boluarte highlighted during a press conference with the Association of the Foreign Press in Peru (APEP) that the Executive will give "all the facilities" to both the Public Ministry and the Judiciary so that they handle each individual case "accordingly".

"We did not generate violence. When we took office we said that we would be a government that dialogued because we came from behind with tremendous polarization," said the current president, adding that the deceased "hurt in her soul," as reported by the Andean news agency.

Likewise, Boluarte has reported that, at the request of his Executive, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will return in January. A delegation from the agency already held a series of meetings last week with local authorities, members of social organizations and family members of the deceased.
