Bolsonaro votes in the second round of the Brazilian presidential elections

The Brazilian president and candidate for reelection Jair Bolsonaro has voted this Sunday in the second round of the Brazilian presidential elections, in which the position is disputed with the former president and leftist candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Bolsonaro has exercised his right to vote in the Villa Militar neighborhood of Rio e Janeiro minutes after 8:00 a.m. (12:00 p.m. in mainland Spain), according to the Brazilian press.

Bolsonaro arrived at the polling station at 7:50 a.m. dressed in a green and yellow shirt -- the colors of the Brazilian flag --, greeted several supporters who were waiting for him in front of the educational center and avoided the press.

"Today we expect a victory, for the good of Brazil. In the last few days we have only received good news. God willing, we will be victorious this afternoon. Better: Brazil will be victorious this afternoon," Bolsonaro said confidently after voting.

After voting, Bolsonaro went to the Galeao Airport to receive the Flamengo team, champion of the Copa Libertadores in the final played on Saturday. He will then return to Brasilia, to the Alborada Palace, with his family and his advisers to follow the election day.

Statements have also been made by Bolsonaro's vice-presidential candidate, General Walter Braga Netto, who voted at a bank branch in the south of Rio de Janeiro.

"I am confident. I have seen Minas Gerais, the Northeast,... I am very confident," he declared to the press gathered at his polling station after exercising his right, using the privilege of not waiting in line for voters.

Braga Netto will now travel to Brasilia to accompany Bolsonaro in monitoring election day.
