Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has denied his responsibility for the assault on institutions in Brasilia by his supporters.

Bolsonaro, more than seven hours after the attack on public buildings, has assured that during his term he has "always" complied with the Constitution, "respecting and defending the laws, democracy, transparency and sacred freedom."

"In addition, I repudiate the accusations, without evidence, that the current head of the Executive of Brazil (Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva) attributed to me," the former president wrote in a series of messages published on his profile on the social network Twitter.

Likewise, Bolsonaro has compared the events that occurred this Sunday, which he has described as "depredations and invasions" with the demonstrations called by the left", assuring that "they escape the rule", since "peaceful demonstrations, in the form of law, are part of democracy.
