Bolsonaro closes distances with Lula and is positioned seven points in the polls for the second round

The candidate of the Workers' Party (PT) for the Presidency of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, could obtain in the second round up to 50 percent of the votes against the Liberal Party (PL) of the Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, that would reach 43 percent, according to a survey released by the consulting firm Ipec on Monday.

In this way, and compared to the survey published by the same body last week, the Brazilian president has cut the difference with his adversary by one point, when the polls projected him with 42 percent of the votes and Lula with 51. percent.

In addition, within the two finalist campaigns, 93 percent (94 percent last week) have stated that they are sure of their vote, while the remaining seven percent could change it between now and October 30, when they will hold The elections.

The Brazilian president continues to have the highest rejection rate, although it has fluctuated negatively: 46 percent say they would not vote for him at all, up from 48 percent last week. The rejection of Lula varies to a lesser extent from 42 percent last week to 41 percent this week.

In southern Brazil, 52 percent of voters say they vote for Bolsonaro and 39 percent for Lula. In the Northeast, on the other hand, 68 percent say they vote for the PT against 26 percent who would vote for the current president.

In the north of the country, 52 percent prefer Bolsonaro, while 40 percent opt ​​for the former president. In the south, Bolsonaro's candidacy registers a greater intention to vote: 53 percent compared to 36 percent for Lula, as reported by 'Folha de S.Paulo'.

In the first round, on Sunday, October 2, Lula obtained 48.4 percent of the valid votes, compared to 43.2 percent for Bolsonaro. In third place, Simone Tebet (MDB) was left with 4.2 percent; behind, Ciro Gomes (PDT), with three percent.
