Biden criticizes Republicans who propose cutting aid to Ukraine

MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has criticized this Thursday the republicans who propose to cut the aid to Ukraine in the framework of the war started by the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, on February 24.

"They (Republicans) say that if they win (the election) they are not likely to continue funding Ukraine. (...) They don't get it. This is much more than Ukraine. This is about Eastern Europe. This is about the NATO. These are really serious consequences," Biden said in statements made at a fundraising event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, collected by the White House press team.

"Those on the other team (the Republican Party) don't understand: they don't understand that what the United States does will determine what the rest of the world does," added the president.

In this sense, Biden has assured that the rest of the countries see Washington as a leader. "They look at us because they are not that big or powerful," she said.

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy warned Tuesday that his party would not write a "blank check" to Ukraine if they win a House majority.

"People are going to be sitting in a recession and not writing a blank check to Ukraine," said McCarthy, who is likely to become House speaker if Republicans take control of the House, according to Bloomberg.

Next November 8, mid-term elections will be held in which, according to a survey by the newspaper 'The New York Times' published on Monday, 49 percent of American voters will vote for the Republican Party in the next legislative elections, while another 45 percent would go for the Democratic Party.
