At least two Syrian soldiers killed by an alleged Israeli attack on the Damascus airport

At least two soldiers have died and another two have been wounded this Monday by several Israeli attacks against the Damascus Airport, which has been put out of service during the early hours of the morning.

"At approximately 02:00 (00:00 Spanish peninsular time) this morning, the Israeli enemy has carried out an aerial attack with bursts of missiles from the north-east direction of algo Kinneret, targeting Damascus International Airport and its surroundings," he said. a military source told the SANA news agency.

In addition, the same source has added that the attack has caused "the death of two soldiers, another two wounded, some material losses and the interruption of service at the airport (...)".

However, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has indicated that this incident has left four fatalities, after denouncing "violent explosions" after midnight on Sunday, in what was the first Israeli attack on Syrian territory this year.

The body, based in London and informant in the Arab country, has added that the attacks were aimed at locations of the Lebanese party-militia Hezbollah, as well as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

For its part, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has not commented at the moment. However, the IDF generally does not comment on specific attacks in Syria, according to the newspaper 'The Times of Israel'.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has counted 32 Israeli attacks against Syria, "whether with missiles or air strikes," which damaged nearly a hundred targets -- buildings, weapons depots, headquarters -- and nearly killed of 90 soldiers, while 121 were wounded.

Hours later, the Syrian Ministry of Transportation reported, through a statement posted on its Facebook profile, that the airport "returns to service and flights resume from nine o'clock in the morning."
