At least two dozen Iranian protesters face a possible execution as a response from the authorities to their participation in the protests critical of the Government, according to a report published this Saturday by the local newspaper 'Etemad'.

The aforementioned newspaper has brought to light a list prepared by the Iranian authorities in which 25 protesters are accused of "waging a war against God", a charge that, according to Iranian law, is punishable by death.

The Iranian judicial authorities have already announced that new executions will be carried out, while a large part of the international community and the most critical national sectors, such as 'Etimad' itself, call on the authorities to review the sentences and avoid new executions.

Shekari's death has already drawn strong condemnation at home and abroad, though Iranian political leaders, including President Ebrahim Raisi, have described the execution as a legitimate response to unrest across the country. .

Protesters have threatened to act in response and have spread the slogan 'Wait for our revenge' on social media. Meanwhile, internationally, the Iranian population abroad has also announced new anti-government protests throughout the weekend.

Iran has been the scene of protests since mid-September, when Mahsa Amini, a young Kurdish woman, died in police custody after being arrested for not wearing a veil properly and violating Islamic dress codes.

Since then, while the mobilizations have been taking place, the authorities have been violently repressing them, thus earning new sanctions from the international community for matters related to Human Rights.

However, from Tehran they do not consider that they are giving arguments for the mobilizations and have accused the "enemies" of Iran and the "mercenaries" of being behind the massive protests. The authorities consider that the majority of Iranians continue to support the Islamic system.
