83 percent of Peruvian citizens believe that the Government of Peru should bring forward the general elections, while only 13 percent support that President Dina Boluarte ends her stay in office and ends her term in 2026, according to a survey by the Peruvian opinion study IEP collected by 'La República'.

In this way, seven out of ten people surveyed disagree that Boluarte has taken over as head of state before the dismissal of Pedro Castillo, who was deposed by Congress on December 7 in a motion of no confidence, all after announcing his intention to dissolve the legislative chamber and establish an emergency government.

The disapproval of the Peruvian president, who has been in office for 11 days, is similar both in the rural environment (77 percent) and in the urban environment (74 percent). The only place in the country where it garners more support is in the metropolitan area of ​​Lima, where 35 percent are in favor of it.

The survey also reflects the opinion of the participants on the state of democracy. In general, there is high social discontent with the functioning of the Peruvian State, since 80 percent are dissatisfied or very dissatisfied.

However, 60 percent of Peruvians point out that the political crisis does not justify the decision to close Parliament, a decision that only 34 percent of citizens see well, according to the aforementioned newspaper.

In addition, another 60 percent would not justify the military taking power through a coup, while 38 percent would favorably assess the measure.

Although former President Pedro Castillo managed to reach 31 percent support before the attempted dissolution of Congress, in the new survey only 26 percent consider his administration as good (19.5 percent) or very good (6.8 percent). percent).

42 percent of the surveys believe that the ex-president had a very bad performance (22 percent) or bad (20 percent). Another 29 percent believe that his government was neither good nor bad.

However, certain parts of the population support his decision to dissolve Congress to a greater or lesser extent. The greatest support is harvested in rural areas, with up to 52 percent support, while 48 percent of urban citizens are in favor of the attempted dissolution of Congress announced by Castillo.

When asked about the reasons why citizens are demonstrating in various parts of the country, 71 percent believe that the main reason is an early election. Second, 40 percent to show their support for former President Pedro Castillo, while only 15 percent in favor of Congress.
