Vox once again asks the TC to suspend tomorrow's debate and vote in the Senate on the penal reform

MADRID, 21 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Vox has once again asked the Constitutional Court (TC) to suspend the entire processing of the bill that repeals the crime of sedition and touches on embezzlement -- without the amendments that paralyzed the Plenary of the Constitutional Court on the renewal of the court itself -- which will be voted on Thursday in the Senate.

The document argues to the High Court that the Senate Committee "has remained silent" about the request made last week by the senators on this legislative initiative and its subsequent reconsideration, so that the processing of the legislative initiative has continued "with regulatory infringement and constitutional violation formulated under article 23 of the Spanish Constitution".

The parliamentary group has already filed an appeal for amparo before the TC in which they requested the suspension of the full text and not only of the amendments referring to the High Court as well as to the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) as, they point out, "has done the Popular Party" and "to which they have given an answer".

In his petition, the formation chaired by Santiago Abascal is based on the lack of resolution "expressly and motivated by the Senate Board of the requests made by the senators", since, he assures, "it violates their right to exercise the position representative" citing article 23.2 of the Constitution, in relation to the right of citizens to participate in public affairs.

In this way, he warns, "a situation of evident defenselessness is generated by violating the" ius in officium "to the representatives in the Senate of the political formation, for this reason the infringement of the principle of respect for minorities established by our democratic system", Pick up the writing.

According to Abascal's party, and following the argument used for the precautionary suspension of the partial elimination of the text of the parliamentary initiative, "it should be applicable to suspend the vote and the processing of the full text", and in the least of cases, "For the provisions referring to embezzlement, it has no connection with the stated purpose of the initiative," he claims.
