The TSJC refuses to annul the challenge to a judge removed from the trial of the Torrent Table

The trial was held without having resolved the Prosecutor's request to include Ramos in court

BARCELONA, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has refused to annul the challenge to magistrate Carlos Ramos, who was removed from the trial of the former members of the Parliamentary Table that the now Minister Roger Torrent presided over.

In a statement, the TSJC has explained this Wednesday that the decision has been made by majority and that two judges have presented individual votes, and the arguments of their positions will be made public in the coming days.

Before the trial --which was two weeks ago-- the Prosecutor's Office had asked the court to annul Ramos' recusal, and the trial was held with this request pending resolution despite the fact that accusations and defenses asked to postpone it until they clarify whether Ramos could form part of the court because they feared that if their challenge was eventually overturned, the trial might be invalidated.

In addition to Ramos, in this trial the president of the TSJC, Jesús María Barrientos, who was replaced by another magistrate, had also been challenged by the former vice president of Parliament Josep Costa.

Costa presented an incident of execution against the appointment of the judge who replaced Barrientos, and the TSJC room in charge of ruling on challenges has also dismissed it.

Between October 5 and 7, the TSJC judged Minister Roger Torrent and the members of the Table chaired by Josep Costa, Eusebi Campdepadrós and Adriana Delgado for alleged disobedience in processing proposals for resolutions, allegedly knowing that they meant ignoring the Constitutional Court (CT).
