The Prosecutor's Office investigates the former chief inspector of Valencia who said that immigrants were criminals

The hate crime section of the Valencia Provincial Prosecutor's Office has opened criminal investigation proceedings against the former chief inspector of the Central Police Station of the city of Valencia who claimed that the immigrants were criminals, as Europa Press has learned.

The public ministry has agreed to this measure after the complaint filed by some thirty organizations of migrants and the defense of their rights against the former inspector. Among the entities is València Acull, the African Union Federation of Spain, Por Tí Mujer, Colombia Tierra Querida or SOS Racisme del País València.

In their brief, the complainants demanded that the public ministry accuse former commissioner Ricardo Ferris, who was relieved of his post after his demonstrations were made public, of inciting hatred against foreigners.

Specifically, as the organizations recalled in their complaint, Ferris equated immigration with crime and attributed all crimes committed to foreigners, in an event organized by Vox and the Foundation for the Defense of the Spanish Nation (Denaes) , backed by the association A Police for the 21st Century.

In addition, the former commissioner --they added-- publicly urged "to act and turn our noses up at the current situation" and stated that "we Spaniards are a peaceful people, but unfortunately we are going to have to stop being so."

The hate crime is contemplated in article 510.1.a of the Penal Code and is punishable by a prison sentence of one to four years and a fine of six to 12 months.

From the General Directorate of the National Police, after knowing the facts, they agreed to relieve Ferris of his position and opened a reserved information to clarify "all the details" in relation to his participation in that act on October 14 and purge the responsibilities for there to be room.
