The Progressive Union of Prosecutors censures Montero's "disqualifications" and defends the criteria of the judges

MADRID, 16 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Progressive Union of Prosecutors has described as inadmissible the "generic disqualifications" that the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, has poured out on the sentence reviews that some judges have already made with the entry into force of the Law of 'only yes is yes ' and has defended the "scrupulous" judicial criteria based on "technical-legal" criteria based on the approved law.

The organization has recalled in a statement published on social networks, and collected by Europa Press, that the review work to be carried out by judges and prosecutors is done with "scrupulous respect" for the guarantees of the procedure and the law approved in Parliament.

Thus, the UPF has considered that the generic disqualifications expressed about the performance of said reviews are "not admissible" after Montero has indicated, after knowing the reduction of sentences for rapists, that machismo "can cause judges to apply wrongly the law or that they apply it in a defective way".

This alleged misinterpretation of the law by judges is worked on, according to Montero, "with mandatory training." "We are concerned that there are judges who do not comply with feminist laws because it can leave women unprotected.
