The Plenary of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has agreed this Thursday to assign the name of María Victoria Cinto Lapuente to the meeting room in which the Disciplinary Commission holds its sessions, member and member of said commission until her death on 30 of June.
As reported by the governing body of the judges, the alternate president of the Council, the member Rafael Mozo, has proposed to the Plenary to pay this tribute to recognize the work of Cinto, both within the Disciplinary Commission and in the exercise of his duties. functions as a member of the governing body of the judges, and thus value "his tireless task aimed at modernizing and computerizing the Administration of Justice".
The Plenary has specified that a plaque will be placed at the entrance of the room "which will serve as a permanent reminder of the tribute" that the General Council of the Judiciary pays to María Victoria Cinto.
In this Thursday's session, the members highlighted "the professional competence, the conciliatory spirit and the permanent search for consensus that characterized the person and work of Cinto". Those who were his colleagues have described his contribution as "decisive" in the development of the powers of the CGPJ for the benefit of the Judicial Career and have highlighted his "professional integrity and deep humanity".
Cinto was born in Tarazona (Zaragoza) and graduated in Law from the University of the Basque Country. He entered the Judicial Career in 1987, by opposition, and had his first assignment in the District Court number 2 of the Gipuzkoan capital. Two years later, she was promoted to magistrate and became head of the Court of Instruction number 4 of San Sebastián.
In 1999 she was elected president of the Provincial Court of Gipuzkoa, a position in which she remained until 2010, when she moved to special services when she was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice of the Basque Government.
She re-entered the Judicial Career in 2012, as a magistrate of the First Section of the Gipuzkoa High Court, and in November 2013 she was appointed by the Senate as a member of the General Council of the Judiciary for the judicial shift.
