The confessed murderer of Juana Canal admits the murder again and apologizes to the family

MADRID, 13 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Jesús Pradales, the confessed murderer of Juana Canal, has admitted the murder again this Tuesday before the judge of Instruction number 21 of Madrid and has apologized to the family of the woman who disappeared 19 years ago in Ciudad Lineal.

Juana's crime was solved a few weeks ago after her bones were located on a family farm of the murderer in Ávila, which led the investigators to her arrest.

The magistrate agreed on December 5 to accept the inhibition of the Ávila court that decreed the admission to prison when the disappearance complaint filed in 2003 fell to this judicial body for distribution. Therefore, Judge Concepción Jerez would be competent in its investigation as the Comprehensive Protection against Gender Violence law was not then in force.

At the appearance, the investigating judge informed Jesús Pradales of his procedural situation, requesting the prosecutor and the family's lawyer to maintain preventive detention until he is tried. Once again, the person under investigation has admitted her murder but has stated that he had no intention of killing her.

Jesús is serving preventive detention in the Torredondo prison (Segovia). The judicial investigation will now start with the summons of the police officers who intervened in the police investigations and the relatives of the deceased.

In his statement before the Ávila judge, Jesús stated that the victim threatened to stab him with a knife and blame him during the discussion in which he would have accidentally died after hitting her to avoid an assault.

The murderer of Juana Canal entered the Brieva prison, near Ávila, on October 28 for a crime of homicide in the field of gender violence.

He did so after confessing to the judge that he killed her with one blow and that he dismembered her into two pieces in the bathtub to transport her in suitcases to Navalacruz, where he buried her in two holes on land near a family farm.

In his statement, he recounted that the discussion began after the woman took 600 euros from him and locked herself in the bathroom, threatening to flush the money down the toilet. After leaving her, Juana would have taken a knife and would have threatened to stab him to say it was him, according to her story.

The victim called the Police to report that she was being assaulted and the agents went to the address on Boldano Street. Finally, the police left. Next, the detainee packed his bags in the room to leave home and when he left, he extended his arm to move the victim away and she fell.

"I saw that she was still on the ground with her eyes open. I realized that she was dead. I was scared," she told the judge. It was then that she decided to cut it in two with a knife. He put her in two suitcases and took her 90 kilometers to Navalacruz. Near her farm, she dug two holes with a hoe and put her remains inside.

Upon returning to Madrid, he threw the suitcases into a container on Calle Alcalá and wrote a note to Sergio, Juana's son, stating that his mother had left after taking several pills.

According to the summary, in the early hours of February 24, 2003, Jesús filed a false complaint at the Carabanchel National Police Station in which he made reference to alleged physical attacks and injuries at the hands of Juana during said discussion after which she disappears.

Two days earlier, one of the woman's sons found a note written by his mother's partner, indicating that they had had a heated argument and that she had run away and had not been able to find her.

According to the proceedings, Jesús always hid from his relatives and his current partner the alleged attacks he suffered and limited himself to commenting that the complaint was for Juana having allegedly stolen about 700 euros, who even went so far as to claim his son.
