The accused of beheading her partner in Castro Urdiales, Carmen Merino, has assured that the friend to whom she gave a box to keep it -which according to her version contained sex toys and in which the skull of the victim, Jesús María Baranda- called her the night she opened the package and, upon arriving at her house, went down to meet her and told her that she had "a gift" for her at home, "the head of Jesus in a bag," according to He made it concrete by going up to the address in the elevator.

However, this woman has affirmed that the defendant "lies", in this and other extremes of the case, and has indicated that when she opened the packaging - a plastic bag and several rubbish bags, a vanity case and wrapping paper - and saw "part of the head" left "running" in search of her sister and brother-in-law, who called the Civil Guard and she called the suspect.

In addition, in the Third Section of the Provincial Court of Cantabria they have also declared relatives and friends of the deceased, a 67-year-old retired Basque banker at the time of his disappearance, in February 2019. His skull appeared in the box in question in the month September but the body has not been found yet.

His until then partner, a native of Seville and 64 years old, has been in provisional prison since the macabre discovery and faces 25 years in prison that the prosecutor asks for murder, although the private accusation -exercised by the sons of the deceased- calls for prison permanently reviewable and defense, free acquittal.
