The Minister for Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, has announced the opening of the phase of expressions of interest of a new call for proposals from PERTE for Vanguardia Health for innovation projects focused on healthy aging and oncology. The Ministry will allocate 56 million euros to this call, which is aimed at coordinating scientific and business capacities to advance "more quickly" in the development of clinical diagnostic products for personalized medicine and advanced therapies.

Specifically, 20 million euros will be allocated in subsidies to research centers and organizations in the area of ​​the National Health System, managed by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) and up to 36 million euros in partially reimbursable aid to companies, from of which 12 million euros are non-reimbursable tranches (subsidy), managed by the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), the Ministry has detailed in a statement.

Morant visited the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) in Valencia this Thursday, where he highlighted "the commitment of the Government of Spain to research and people's health".

The Ministry of Science and Innovation, through the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), allocated close to 25 million euros for 196 IIS La Fe health research projects between 2018 and 2022.

During his visit, Morant stated that the IIS La Fe is a "pioneer and leader" health research institute in clinical trials in Spain, which has "very ambitious" projects in early detection of diseases and Big Data, among others. .

The Hospital de la Fe Medical Imaging group scientifically coordinates the Pan-European digital infrastructure project for cancer medical images (EUCAM), which aims to create a European bank of cancer medical images that will improve prevention, diagnosis and the treatment of this disease.

The project is financed by the European Union with 17 million euros, of which Spain has obtained nine million thanks to the coordination of the ISCIII. Of these, the La Fe Health Research Institute has received 1.3 million euros for this project, which began in January 2023 and will end in 2026.
