Madrid asks the Government that the Police carry out more street controls and pat-downs to fight gangs

MADRID, 7 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and the Interior of the Community of Madrid, Enrique López, has reiterated to the Government that the Police carry out more controls on the street, allow them to carry out pat-downs and expand their investigative powers to deal with the increase in youth gang violence in the region.

This has been pointed out in an interview in Onda Madrid, collected by Europa Press, before the latest murder of a child under 15 years of age in the Villaverde district of the capital.

López has insisted that the central government has to work on the prevention and prosecution of crimes, while the regional government has competence in the early prevention of integration in schools and avoid drug use in areas close to centers schoolchildren.

For the counselor, it is essential that the possession of large weapons be criminally punished and that the penalties for adults who use minors to commit crimes be tougher.

Likewise, it has indicated that the Community has very limited powers to combat this type of violence, recalling, for example, the implementation of protocols so that teachers have specialized training in the early detection of the integration of minors.

López has demanded that the Government Delegation carry out more controls on the street, increase the power of investigation and be able to carry out body searches.
