Llop says that it is "normal" for the European Commission to analyze the reform of the crime of embezzlement

MADRID, 20 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop, has indicated this Friday that it is normal for the European Commission to analyze the reform of the crime of embezzlement because it falls within its powers. She has added that it is "logical" and that she appreciates that this analysis exists.

In statements to the media after participating in a conference on mediation, he reacted in this way to the announcement by the European Union Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, who last Wednesday pointed out that they were analyzing the reform that lowers penalties for crimes of embezzlement to assess whether the changes they do not stray from the rules of the European Union, especially as far as the protection of European funds is concerned.

The aim, Reynders said, was to assess the conformity of the reform with EU law, "especially as regards the protection of the EU's financial interests."

For Llop, it is normal for all EU countries to respond to the European directive, and he has indicated that whenever there are criminal modifications in the criminal codes of the different countries, "there are certain opposition groups that always go to the European Commission raising their complaints and doubts about the reforms".
