Lawyers from the Administration of Justice call a strike this Tuesday and Wednesday to demand salary improvements

They also call for mid-December and threaten an indefinite strike in January

MADRID, 28 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The National College of Lawyers of the Administration of Justice, the Independent Association of Lawyers (AINLAJ) and the Progressive Union of Lawyers (UPSJ) have called a strike for this Tuesday and Wednesday, for December 14 and 15 and "indefinite in January" to --among other issues-- "require" the Ministry led by Pilar Llop to apply "the same criteria as the rest of the officials" who depend on the Department, which would lead to better pay for the Corps.

The three have signed a joint statement issued this Monday in which they have specified the reasons for calling the strike after "several meetings and negotiations" with the Ministry since the end of 2021.

Among the highlights is the "hook clause" for the remuneration of Lawyers of the Administration of Justice (LAJs) who request that it be included --via amendment-- in the Organizational Efficiency Law that is currently being debated in Congress.

They have also underlined the request to reduce the population groups from 5 to 3, a measure that -as indicated by the National College in a previous statement- "would imply the application of the same amounts for the general complement of positions that currently exist , like forensic doctors, to Justice Lawyers".

In line, in the joint statement, the College, the AINLAJ and the UPSJ have demanded that the current percentage allocated to the concept of productivity be updated "immediately". They have also requested that the days of release be recovered, "regarding those substitutions that did not give rise to economic compensation."

On the sidelines, the National College of Lawyers of the Administration of Justice has assured that last October they requested a formal meeting with the Secretary of State for Justice and that since then "nobody" has clarified "their doubts", which -- in his opinion-- "supposes absolute contempt" towards the Corps of Lawyers.

"We have shown on numerous occasions that dialogue was the first of our options; we never wanted to adopt any measure that was to the detriment of Justice, the interests of the litigants, or of course, our colleagues", has indicated the National College in his statement.

The Ministry of Justice had scheduled a press conference for this Monday for the Secretary of State for Justice, Tontxu Rodríguez, to explain the measures that the Department is carrying out in relation to the LAJs. For scheduling reasons, however, it was canceled at the last minute.
