Justice hopes that the conflict with the LAJ "will settle" although it is not optimistic before the meeting on Thursday

He assures that the strike is "doing a lot of damage to the image of justice" and to the citizens

MADRID, 14 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Secretary of State for Justice, Antonio 'Tontxu' Rodríguez, has assured that he hopes that the conflict with the Lawyers of the Administration (LAJ) "will settle" after the meeting that they have scheduled for Thursday in the framework of the indefinite strike that It began on January 24, although when asked if he had any "hunch" for the match, he indicated: "With the LAJ I have no hunch."

In statements to Cadena SER in Burgos collected by Europa Press, Rodríguez stressed that the LAJ strike "is doing harm to legal operators and citizens." "He is doing a lot of damage to the image of Justice," he stressed.

As he has reported, due to the break there are those who "cannot collect their alimony pensions", "there are views that have not been able to be held" and there are couples who have not been able to get married. Yesterday, Monday, the strike committee assured that 2 million notifications had failed to be made and some 134,000 trials and views had been suspended throughout the national territory.

Asked about the salary demands of the LAJ, Rodríguez has insisted -as he has already done in previous statements- that this Body of the Administration of Justice received a "significant" salary increase; specifically, a rise of up to 14%.

In line, the secretary has stressed that -- "forgetting the request for resignation" and the comments that are poured into the networks with "insults" and "threats" against the Ministry -- he will attend the meeting on Thursday "with an expectation to resolve the conflict."

Faced with said "expectation of agreement", they have asked him what "perception" or "hunch" he has for the meeting. "With the lawyers of the Administration of Justice, I have no hunch, I no longer have a hunch," she said.

Rodríguez's statements take place on the 16th day of the indefinite strike which, according to the organizing associations, yesterday had a follow-up of 74%, and according to Justice had a participation of 26.21%.

In the more than two weeks that the break has been going on, the LAJ have registered maximums of 85% and minimums of 73%; On the other hand, the Ministry has notified between 33.92% and 18.9% of follow-up.

Regarding these participation data, Rodríguez has indicated that the data has been falling since the strike began on January 24 because the days of work stoppage no longer coincide with the 'moscosos' days of the lawyers, in reference to vacation days and pending own issues that usually accumulate in January.

The indefinite strike reaches its 16th day as a result of the conflict that has its origin in "the lack of salary adaptation to the greater functions and responsibilities attributed by Law 13/2009, discharged to judges, and increased in successive reforms", especially that of 2015, which -- they denounce -- has caused an "unbearable imbalance".

The conveners point out as a "trigger" of the conflict the agreement that Justice signed in December 2021 with the unions of the general bodies "without properly developing the salary adjustment to the latest procedural reforms provided for in the second paragraph of Additional Provision 157 of the Law 11/2020 of the General State Budget for 2021".
