JJpD demands to "lower the tone" and face the reform to renew the Constitutional Court with "measure"

MADRID, 17 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Association Judges and Judges for Democracy (JJpD) has demanded that political leaders "lower their tone" to face with "measure" a necessary reform to renew the Constitutional Court, at the same time that it has demanded that the members of the General Council of Power Judicial (CGPJ) responsibility to prevent his expired mandate from "crisping the news more."

In a statement collected by Europa Press, the association has also requested that Parliament's decisions be respected to overcome "the boycott" to which "a group of members of the CGPJ submit the renewal of the TC."

In this regard, the JJpD spokesperson, Ascensión Martín, has stressed that in Spain "there is neither a coup d'état to reform a law" nor "noise of robes for the Constitutional Court to resolve an appeal", therefore, in her opinion , a decision must be faced with "less drama" whose only reason is the position of "frank disobedience to the law" maintained by a group of members of the CGPJ by not designating two posts to the TC.

According to JJpD, if these members did not prevent the appointment, "two jurists, of conservative and progressive tendencies, would be appointed to complete the Constitutional Court."

The spokesperson for the progressive association has stressed that the Government has designated those who corresponded to it and now it is up to the CGPJ. "The renovation of the Constitutional Court constitutes a priority for the Democrats, compared to those who have succumbed to partisan pressure so that it does not take place," the statement concludes.
