A court admits a complaint from the worker for his new destination after the closure of La Modelo

BARCELONA, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The 26th Investigating Court of Barcelona is investigating the Secretary of Criminal Measures, Reintegration and Victim Care, Amand Calderó, and former charges of the Ministry of Justice for alleged prevarication following the complaint of a prison official for his relocation after the closure from La Modelo prison in 2017, according to a car to which Europa Press has had access.

As 'Ser Cataluña' has advanced and it is stated in the aforementioned order, the then general secretary of the Ministry of Justice and now director of the Hospital de Sant Pau, Adrià Comella, are also being investigated; and the then director of Justice services and now director of territorial services of the Presidency in Tarragona, Angel Cortadellas.

For his part, in 2017 Calderó was general director of Penitentiary Services, and on Tuesday he was appointed secretary of Criminal Measures, a position he had already held between 2019 and 2021.

The complainant and coordinator of the Acaip union in Catalonia, Francesc López, explained in statements to Europa Press that, after the closure of La Modelo in 2017, he was transferred to the Wad-Ras women's prison in Barcelona, despite the fact that he had asked to go to the youth prison in La Roca del Vallès (Barcelona).

The official has already filed a contentious appeal against the decision to assign him to Wad-Ras, in which he has said that the court "partially agreed with him", and now the complaint involves opening criminal proceedings against the three charges of the Ministry investigated .

The investigating judge has summoned Calderó, Comella and Cortadellas to take their statements as investigated on Monday, November 14 in the morning, and in the case of Cortadellas the statement will be made by videoconference from Tarragona.
