Zelensky warns that the situation in Zaporizhia remains "very dangerous" despite the reconnection to the network

MADRID, 26 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, has warned that the situation at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant remains "very dangerous", despite the fact that the facilities are now connected to the Ukrainian power grid.

The Ukrainian president has accused the Russian forces of continuing with their "provocations", a term similar to that used by the Russian authorities to blame the other party for the escalation of tensions around the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.

"Any possible repetition of what happened yesterday (...), any action by Russia that could trigger the closure of the reactors, will again leave the plant one step away from disaster," Zelensky said in a speech delivered this Friday by the night.

For this reason, he has insisted on the need for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to send a mission "as soon as possible" and help maintain the facilities "under continuous control of Ukraine." Since the beginning of March, it is the Russian forces who control the plant.

The director general of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, sees the agreement as feasible and has even pointed out on several occasions -- the last one this Friday -- that it could be a matter of "days."
