Zelenski sees it paramount to boost "authentic" channels of communication in which the Russian citizenry trusts

MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has highlighted the importance of promoting communication channels, especially television channels, that are "truthful" and that at the same time have the confidence of the Russian citizenry.

"When we give information in Russian or English, people from the Russian Federation, who are already facing a wall, I don't think they understand us. I think they can understand something for themselves and draw their own conclusions when people in the Russian Federation speak to them. who trust", said the Ukrainian head of state.

At this point, Zelensky has acknowledged that the Russian population does not trust the Ukrainian media or himself. "I think there are tools on how to transmit information to them, and although they are very complex, this is one of the most difficult tasks to work on," he pointed out, according to the Ukrinform agency.

Zelensky has placed special emphasis on this matter at a time when "a free niche" can be opened in the information space after the application of the sixth package of sanctions by the European Union, which this time also contemplates the prohibition broadcasts of Russian television channels.

"When (these channels) close, their audience will look for information in Russian. It is very important that this space is occupied by truthful channels," the president said, thus pointing to new opportunities for the Ukrainian media.
